SHORT TERM

If your business is in desperate need of some quick business changes to revive your customer base, your staff morale and your suppliers’ confidence, perhaps you should consider making some small changes. Even something as simple as a change in focus or attitude can make a real difference to the feel of the entire business and can really inspire your staff members to get back on board and start selling!

One of the best ways to make a quick business improvement is to have a break on work time. This can be a long morning tea, a lunch (perhaps at a nice restaurant, pub or even a barbeque) or even a day outing. You might even consider inviting some of your suppliers or favoured customers. It is important that the staff know they are being paid to turn up and have a good time, and that you as the business owner or manager take the time out to show your appreciation for each staff member’s efforts. By showing your staff (and other contributors to the business) that they are a valuable part of the organisation you re-emphasise not only your own relationship with your staff but their continued relationship with the success of the business in general. Without happy and motivated staff it is difficult for a business to truly succeed.

Another great fast-fix is to redecorate your office / working environment. By changing the environment your staff, customers and clients interact in you also change their perspectives and attitudes to the business. If you are a retail-based organisation you can opt for a store renovation or perhaps just to change some of the visual merchandising. If you are a firm, office or warehouse-based business, perhaps consider redecorating the staff room or common area. A fresh change makes for a fresh attitude.
